On Saturday, President Donald Trump's personal lawyer John Dowd called for an end to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election interference, citing "recent revelations" as well as the firing of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe as reasons to end the probe. In a statement to NBC News, Dowd stated that he hopes Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will call an end to the investigation "on the merits" of the FBI Inspector General's recommendation to fire McCabe.
