President Trump on Sunday slammed Democrats over confirmation of government positions.
President Trump on Sunday went after Democrats over the vacant government positions.
"The Democrats continue to Obstruct the confirmation of hundreds of good and talented people who are needed to run our government...A record in U.S. history. State Department, Ambassadors and many others are being slow walked. Senate must approve NOW!" Trump tweeted.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders echoed the president's remark last month.
"I want to take a moment to highlight the historic obstruction by Senate Democrats — an issue that represents a threat to America's interests and security," Sanders said at a press briefing.
"Compared to the four previous administrations, this Senate has confirmed the fewest nominees. Senator Schumer's tactics have led to 73 fewer confirmations than the next closest administration. Half of President Trump's nominees are still waiting for confirmation in the Senate," she added.
However, The Hill points out, "Democrats argue that a number of Trump's nominees have withdrawn or faced intense scrutiny for conflicts of interest or a lack of qualifications for their nominated positions."
