Snap to Layoff Over 120 Engineers The company confirmed the news Thursday. It represents Snap's largest layoff to date. Snap senior VP of engineering Jerry Hunter stressed in an internal email that the company wants to to build “high-performing, technically excellent, and appropriately aligned teams.” The company recently told investors that it had 3,069 employees at the end of 2017. Snap also laid off 22 members of its content team in January. Snap announced earlier this year that it posted its best quarter as a public company, adding 8.9 million daily active users in Q4 of 2017 while at the same time beating revenue expectations.
