A teacher for a B.C. (Canada) offshore school in Xi'an, China, smashed a phone to bits as an April Fools’ Day joke.
“I am a teacher for a B.C. (Canada) offshore school in Xi'an, China,” the teacher said. “This video is of a prank I pulled on the class for April Fools’ Day. I got a student to pretend he was using a fake phone and refusing to listen to me when I told him to put it away. We ad-libbed the altercation, and no one else in the classroom was in on the prank. The girl who filmed it with my phone didn't know either (I told her the principal wanted to know what we talked about in the end-of-the-week meeting, so she was under the impression she was filming it for that reason). At the end of the video, you will see I let them all in on it, and it went over well, because it was pretty clear none of them suspected it was a joke. April Fools’ Day is not that popular here in China, so they are not expecting it as much as students in the West would.
The video was filmed on April 1, 2017.
