The Local Government Association (LGA) has outlined guidance to residents to help them distinguish between legitimate information from councils and 'fake news', urging people to follow a 'three-stage fact-check' to ask 'Who', 'How', and 'What' in regard to any online information received. This follows a recent report by the National Cyber Security Centre which found council websites to be some of the most targeted in the public sector, although hardly any attacks are successful.
