While Mehul Choksi and Nirav Modi are both under the scanner for duping Punjab National Bank for over Rs 11,300 Crore. NewsX gets you exclusive documents which hints at inaction by the then UPA government.
NewsX has accessed emails by former government nominee Director on the Allahabad Bank Board to the then Deputy Governor of RBI. The email lists out details of Allahabad Bank Board Meeting held in a New Delhi Five Star Hotel on September 14, 2013. It also mentions, despite Dubey not giving consent for 50 Crore loan to Gitanjali Gems, the loan was sanctioned.
Dinesh Dubey claims he had opposed the proposal for further loan, stating that Gitanjali Gems should first return Rs 1,500 crore loan given to it earlier.
Dubey in November 2013, also wrote to the Finance Ministry raising the same issue of loans to Gitanjali Gems, voicing his opposition.
