On Monday, Oracle announced it is adding 12 new cloud data centers, which will be built throughout Asia, Europe, and North America. The investment is apart of the company's efforts to reposition itself as a cloud infrastructure company. In terms of market share, Oracle consistently ranks behind other tech giants — including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, and IBM. Last quarter, Oracle reported $1.5 billion revenue across cloud products, compared to $5.1 billion at Amazon.
