BC Transportation triggered a massive avalanche on the Trans-Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden on February 9, in order to reduce the snow load in the Lanark snowshed area.

The avalanche happened inside the Glacier National Park, and was part of a larger avalanche control operation necessitated by heavy snowfall. Credit: BC Transportation via Storyful
