In 2006 police where sent in to put on demonstration near Atenco in the state of Mexico, but the police didn’t go just to quell a demonstration, they went to crush a movement. In the violent repression police raided homes, beat protesters, killed two people and arrested women who suffered sexual torture in police custody. Eleven years later, eleven of those women have taken their case against the Mexican state to the inner American court of human rights. On this episode we talked with Italia Mendez, one of those women.
