The Groenland Water Users Association began the release of up to 10 billion litres of water on February 6, in an effort to alleviate shortages in Cape Town.
The water was released from the Eikenhof Dam, on the Palmiet River in Grabouw.
Cape Town’s deputy mayor, Ian Neilson, said the previous day that “Day Zero,” when the supply is predicted to have to be turned off, had been pushed back to mid-May due to a decline in agricultural use. Credit: Leigh-Anne Jansen/eNCA via Storyful
