Several Inches of Snow Blankets Central Iowa

Several inches of snow fell in Ames, Iowa, on Monday, February 5, causing several weather-related traffic collisions. This timelapse video taken from Iowa State University shows the amount of snow falling on campus.

Forecasters estimated that four to seven inches of snow fell through central Iowa, the most recorded in the state during this storm, according to the Des Moines Register. Dozens of traffic accidents were reported, resulting in the deaths of seven people. One of the crashes involved nearly 50 vehicles on Interstate 35.
