FBI Deputy Director
Andrew McCabe
Stepping Down McCabe's departure comes at a time when President Trump criticized both his and the FBI's involvement in the Russia investigation. McCabe, 49, became acting director in May after James Comey was fired. NBC News reports he will remain on the FBI payroll until he is eligible to retire with full benefits in mid-March. McCabe was instrumental in ex-national security adviser Michael Flynn's White House departure. A Washington Post report last week revealed that Trump had questioned who McCabe voted for in the 2016 election, as well as why his wife — a Democrat — received money from a super PAC operated by a Clinton friend.
