7 - Lady Midday \r
From Slavic mythology, the Lady Midday is a strange female demon who mainly haunts labourers working in the fields during the hottest parts of the day. This creepy ghost is said to pose tough questions to these unsuspecting workers. Any incorrect answer or unprompted subject change results in a beheading, either with a scythe or pair of shears. The Lady Midday is also said to be the cause of heat-strokes and can give people insanity or heat-sickness in lieu of decapitation. Her ghostly image changes, she can appear as a 12-year-old girl, an old woman, or, most commonly, a beautiful woman.\r

6 - The Tiyanak\r
This adorable little manifestation is a vampiric creature from Philippine mythology. This shapeshifter takes the form of a baby and cries in the jungle to attr unsuspecting travellers. Once the demonic infant is picked up, it reverts to its true monstrous form and attacks its victim. The monster is born when a mother dies during birth or aborts her fetus, the soul returns to seek revenge on those who deprived it of life.\r

5 - The Banshee\r
The Irish wailing ghost, this famous demon of Irish folklore is one of the most recognisable of Celtic creatures. This female angry spirit has a demonic scream which if heard foretells a deadly omen. When her scream is heard, travellers will be found dead along roadsides, their throats ripped open. Her appearance varies, some see her ghastly vision as an ugly old hag, while others contend she is a beautiful woman covered in a thick dark shawl. Some legends whisper that if you hear the creatures blood-curdling wail three times in one sinister Irish night, you will be dead by morning.\r

4 - Kinoly\r
These ghouls hail from Madagascar, they are known as ancestor ghosts who prey upon the living. As Malagasy legends tell, these angry ghosts of loved ones were not well tended or too quickly forgotten, haunting their graves, they are known to cause pestilence and misfortune on those who wronged them. The Kinoly look like real people with glowing red eyes and razor sharp fingernails which resemble dagger-like claws. These talon-like nails are used to disembowel the living. One legend where a young child meets the demon in a graveyard gives this horrid greeting. How is it your eyes are so red? God passed by them How is it your nails are so long? That I may tear out your liver. and immediately did so. \r

3 - Snallygaster \r
Dating back to early colonial America, these flying demonic beasts are rumoured to have terrorised the surrounding hills of the original thirteen colonies. German settlers in the 1730s first described these beasts as quick spirits, metal-beaked, half-bird, half-reptiles which would soar through the air, swooping down without a sound to capture unsuspecting prey. The screech of a snallygaster was said to be blood-curdling and only heard when a particularly big piece of prey was snared. Seven-pointed stars were painted on barns to ward off the evil beasts, though sightings continued into the 1900s. President Roosevelt is rumoured to have delayed an African safari to hunt down the hideous bloodthirsty beast on American soil. \r

2 - Black Annis\r
A dark British witch, this malevolent being has pale blue skin and enjoys meals of lambs and children. If this fabled witch catches a child, she will devour it from the inside out, then she will tan its skin and wear it around her waist after devouring. Her home was a cave she clawed into the stone with her bare hands, her hands have a ferocious set of claws, her claws are called iron claws. English parents would frighten their children into behaving with tales of Black Annis coming to get them. \r

From Christian mythology, Abaddon is one of the most heinous demons of Hell, he is destined to appear when the Apocalypse envelops our world. The book of apocalypse names him as the falling star who opens the bottomless pit, spewing plagues across the Earth. His plagues are said to be locust-like monsters with lion teeth and scorpion tails, these beasts of pestilence spend five months tormenting anyone who isnt baptised. Yikes! Some theologians claim he holds power over even Satan himself, while others speak of him as a creature so powerful and malevolent that all angels and demons fear him. He has been called, the destroyer, the lord of the pit, and the king of locusts. His throne is rumoured to be made of maggots. The Apocalypse didnt sound too bad, until I heard of this hideous demon.
