Tucked away along one of the many canals on the Thonburi side of Bangkok, the Artist's House is a difficult attraction to find. Centuries ago, klong houses like these were the norm. Today, they are becoming more and more rare in favor of concrete high rises. Best suited for a half day trip, finding this venue is an experience of itself - venturing out of central Bangkok, weaving through one lane streets and walking through traditional canal neighborhoods is required to find this gem. Once you arrive, you will be greeted by life sized statues that guard the open air cafe, art gallery and performing stage. Grab an iced Thai tea and your favorite seat, because the main attraction is certainly the traditional Thai puppet show. Now a rarity, the actors perform a delicate performance with handcrafted puppets to tell ancient tales with some modern fun sprinkled in. Afterwards, grab a selfie with your favorite actor and/or puppet, and enjoy the art showcases around the house before grabbing another helping of street food on your way back to town.
