The Tama River, separating Tokyo and Kawasaki, was covered with snow and mist on the morning of January 23.

This footage shows a glimpse of the frozen river from the Tokyo side. The uploader wrote that the scene looked “like a dream,” or something that would normally only be visible from a mountaintop.

Two days after this footage was uploaded, on Thursday, January 25, Japan Today reported that Tokyo experienced its coldest day in 48 years, with temperatures falling to -4 degrees Celsius (25 degrees Fahrenheit). Credit: kujiranoutauuta via Storyful
