The bodies of at least nine Syrians who froze to death, likely while trying to cross into Lebanon, were found close to the border on January 19, according to a statement by the Lebanese Army.
Local reports said two children were found among the dead. The bodies were discovered on a route known to be used by smugglers between Souairi and Masnaa in Lebanon’s Beqaa governorate.
Six people were reportedly rescued on the route and transferred to a nearby hospital.
