LAHORE: The top leadership of all mainstream opposition parties will board Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Dr Tahirul Qadri’s bandwagon today (Wednesday) in Lahore to begin an agitation for justice to victims of the Model Town tragedy, ARY News reported.
A showdown between a PAT-led alliance and the Punjab government looms large amidst protests against police shooting on PAT activists back in 2014.
All preparations have been finalised for a mass protest movement, while a stage has also been established in front of the Punjab Assembly building.
The movement is aimed at mounting pressure on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to resign for their alleged role in the incident.
On Tuesday, Qadri said he will make a key announced on Wednesday (today) pertaining to the party’s future course of action.
“Our original plan for the day is a one-day protest, however this may convert into a sit-in. All our measures have been taken with complete consensus of all the parties and there is no disagreement on any point at any level,” he said adding that their last steering committee meeting constituted an action committee.
