Nearly 200 people had close calls at Queensland’s railway crossings in 2017, Queensland Rail said.

The train operator on January 17 released this compilation of clips showing near misses across the state. In one incident at Coopers Plain, CCTV shows a car speeding across a railroad crossing and dislodging a boom gate. Other clips show pedestrians, cyclists and motorists wilfully or unknowingly place themselves near the path of an oncoming train.

Acting Transport Minister Mark Ryan called for road safety, saying “absolutely every near miss Queensland Rail experienced last year was avoidable,” ABC quoted. Credit: Queensland Rail via Storyful
