Urban Outfitters Adds 100 New Jobs

Urban Outfitters Inc. announced on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 that it will relocate its wholesale division from its current location in Pennsylvania to South Carolina’s Edgefield County Industrial Park. The move is expected to create 100 new jobs including material handlers, customer service representatives, supervisors, and leads. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply at the One Stop Centers in Edgefield and Aiken and can also apply in person in Trenton where the Edgefield County Industrial Park is located. John Troutman, Chairman of the Economic Development Partnership claims, “In these times of economic uncertainty, it is gratifying to have companies such as Urban Outfitters adding jobs.” Monroe Kneece, Chairman of the Edgefield County Council says, “Their ability to buck the economic trend is reaping benefits locally by the creation of quality jobs for our citizens.” Urban Outfitters Inc., operates 132 Urban Retail stores in the US and the company expects total sales in the current year to exceed $1.5 billion.
