RMS Titanic was a passenger cruise that sank in the Atlantic Ocean in the early hours of 15 April 1912, after it collided with an iceberg during its voyage from Southampton to New York City. There were 2,224 passengers and crew on the ship, and more than 1,500 died. It is recorded as one of the deadliest maritime disasters in modern history.
