High winds were reported along the New Jersey shore on Thursday, January 4, as a powerful nor’easter battered the region. A blizzard warning was in effect for much of the Jersey coastline, according to the National Weather Service.

Whiteout conditions with snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour were reported, and travel was discouraged by the weather service. Wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour close to the coast were possible.
