THE FINAL FRONTIER — Aliens aren't talking, calling or Snapchatting with us puny Earthlings because they do not want to interfere with our development.

That's according to a 1973 theory by MIT astronomer John Ball. Alien civilizations may consider us a developing species and Earth our space sanctuary, writes Big Think, reporting on the theory. Aliens won't come near us because we might get a disease from them or vice versa.

The theory also reckons advanced alien civilization may have a pact whereby they don't interact with less developed life forms so as to not hinder their development.
