A witness captured the moment a driver in a Mini Cooper struggled to navigate the road as waves brought by Storm Eleanor repeatedly hit the vehicle on January 2 in Galway, Ireland.
Around 55,000 households were left without power as heavy rain and strong winds hit the western and north-western parts of Ireland, according to reports.
The country’s National Meteorological Service, Met Éireann, issued two wind warning for Munster, Leinster and Galway counties.
Residents were also urged to drive with caution as the storm swept across the county, bringing winds of up to 130km/h and flooding, reports said. Credit: Facebook/The Latin Quarter Galway via Storyful
