The Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, Minnesota were frozen over on December 29. Officials urged people to not approach the site due to fears of falling ice.

According to WCCO, one woman was injured earlier in the week after she was struck by falling ice from the falls. Park officials found several hundred trespassers near the site; their presence resulted in further instability in the ice.

The falls, which measure 53 feet in height, completely froze over on Thursday due to sub-zero temperatures. On Friday, the forecast was predicted to be in the 40 degree fahrenheit range. Credit: Instagram/emilygroth6 via Storyful
