A crew began the process on December 19 of clearing up the crash site near Tacoma, Washington, where cars from a derailed Amtrak train fell from a bridge a day earlier.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, most of the derailed cars had been loaded up and removed, but the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 would still be closed off for several days.

The Portland-bound Amtrak train derailed on Monday, killing three people and injuring many others. A total of 12 cars derailed, KOMO News reported, with some landing on the freeway or a nearby embankment.
