Nikki Haley posted a sharply worded tweet ahead of the UN vote relating to the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
The United Nations General Assembly on Thursday will vote on a measure intended to urge President Trump to reverse his declaration that the U.S. will acknowledge Jerusalem as Israel's capital, notes CBS News.
Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations (UN), reportedly sent a letter to some members on Tuesday that notes the U.S. "will take note of each and every vote on this issue."
According to copies of the letter obtained by CBS News, she also states, "As you consider your vote, I want you to know that the President and U.S. take this vote personally."
Haley took to Twitter Tuesday to comment on the matter as well, writing, "At the UN we're always asked to do more & give more. So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American ppl, abt where to locate OUR embassy, we don't expect those we've helped to target us."
"On Thurs there'll be a vote criticizing our choice," she further noted. "The US will be taking names."
Trump's announcement regarding the acknowledgment of Jerusalem as Israel's capital was made on December 6.
"I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering," Trump said.
