Shocking video shows a stationary car at a petrol station in the southeast of England suddenly entering launch control and striking another vehicle, narrowly missing its owner as he filled his car up.

In the mobile phone video of CCTV footage, filmed on December 8 at a petrol station in Sandy Lodge Lane in Northwood, Middlesex, a man gets out of a white car and fills up his vehicle.

A vehicle can be seen behind, which according to those present was an Audi R8 supercar. The Audi stops behind the white car.

The female driver of the Audi gets out of her vehicle to see which side of the car her petrol cap was on, according to a witness.

But when the female driver gets back into her car, she inadvertently puts the car in launch control mode, sending it speeding into the direction of the white car.

Launch control mode allows supercars to accelerate very quickly from a standing start.

Fortunately, a bollard is in the way, which sends the Audi flying up and on top of the white car and allows the man filling up his car to get out of the way and avoid being hit.
