An 11-hour power outage at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Sunday, December 17 stranded thousands of passengers inside terminals and in planes on the tarmac.
More than 1,000 flights to and from Atlanta were canceled, with many diverted to nearby airports. Passengers used flashlights on their phones to navigate in the dark, and one person told CNN that the situation “felt totally apocalyptic”.
Power was restored to one concourse at around 7:45 pm, more than six hours after the outage occurred in the afternoon, and fully reinstated just before midnight. Credit: Instagram/spyceechica via Storyful
