The Tambourine Girls started as one of several side projects for the artistically prolific Simon Relf while he was still a member of Deep Sea Arcade. The band's first single, Police off their debut album to be released late 2016 has been getting tastemaker adulation from Paris to New York as well as here in Australia having recently spent a heady week on Spotify’s #Viral50 chart within days of its release.
During a recent interview Relf talked about the cohesion of the band and the genesis of their music. “Because we’ve played together so much, it makes time in the studio really easy. The first EP was recorded after only a one-hour run through, and while some of the music on this album was very arranged by the time we got into the studio, some of it wasn’t very rehearsed at all because I wanted to catch the feeling of the band discovering the music."
The Tambourine Girls are set to tour nationally throughout 2016 with a number of single releases set in the lead up to the release of their debut album.
