El Negro’s story starts in February 1999 in a different formula. Their journey begins in France on MCM Channel with a remake of “Spune-mi cine ești” and their evolution makes Sony Music Romania contract them for 3 years during whict their first two albums are made:
"Reggaesonic" - 2000 and "Reggae boom, boom" – 2002. In 2003. Under RBA Records label they produce their third studio material, the LP "Fuga in Jamaica".
After some changes in 2004, the band detaches from the simple and general music, trying to find resources to bring under the spotlight ssocial issues and more serious matters.
In 2005 El Negro begin working on another album in the Zion Records Studios. Shortly after they release their new single “Ploaia” – a song released independently that hits heavy rotation on the alternative and mainstream radios. The LP is ready two years later and released trough A&A Records under the name “Antipanica”.
Bogdan Negroiu (vocals and guitar), Vlad "Dalto" Ionescu (bass), Alexandru Borsan (keyboards), Cristian Chesloi (guitar), Daniel "Beavis" Olteanu (drums) and Lady Helenne (voice) are the 7 members EL NEGRO a project relaxed and openly collaborating with many musicians. Sometimes, during a concert you can see up to 12 artists on the stage.
ANTIPANICA is not the only a best seller romanian reggae album (2008), but a concept that the band proposes as a manifesto. The alternative sound is supposed to act as a wake up call.
