At a time of electronic dominance in pop music a young band from Poland, has developed their own fresh style of guitar-based music. Strongly influenced by the 60s as well as by contemporary artists, their distinctive instrumental sound and four-part vocal harmonies are incredibly tight and their dynamic songwriting results in strong melodies and interesting arrangements. Formed in 2011, The Fruitcakes released their debut CD on their own before recording their second album “The Fruitcakes 2“. This latest output was recorded and produced by Maciej Cieslak, one of the biggest figures in Polish music who previously worked with acts such as Lenny Valentino, Scianka, The Car Is On Fire and Lilly Hates Roses. “The Fruitcakes 2“ consists of 12 dreamy songs recorded on tape with analogue gear which adds to the magical and poetic sound of the recording. The album will be released by PIAS (dEUS, Editors, Pixies, Faith No More and others) in 15 European countries. It is important to note that The Fruitcakes are not just living in the past. Their collaboration when writing songs and their open-mindedness results in creative artistic output which emphasises atmosphere and feeling instead of striving for clinical perfection.

W erze dominacji elektroniki, powrót do lat 60. - epoki dla muzyki odmiennej równie stylistycznie, co technicznie od czasów współczesnych - zdaje się być nie tyle eksperymentem, co wręcz przejawem szaleństwa. Jednak w twórczości The Fruitcakes nie ma przypadku - to świadomy dobór środków, dzięki którym powstała wyjątkowa koncepcja zespołu robiącego ogromną różnicę na scenie polskiej muzyki XXI wieku.
Oddając hołd klasyce rocka końca lat 60., czego dowodem są silne wpływy The Beatles i sceny psychodelicznej, The Fruitcakes tworzą muzykę niesamowicie dopieszczoną harmonicznie. Obranie tej drogi zaowocowało brzmieniem melodyjnym, pełnym wysublimowanych smaczków i nieoczywistości, które finalnie składają się na niezwykle spójny materiał. Krążek zatytułowany The Fruitcakes 2 ukazał się 7 lipca 2017 roku nakładem belgijskiej wytwórni PIAS
W tym roku mieli okazje zaprezentować się na kilku festiwalach, m.in. Off Festiwalu, Spring Breaku, Seazone Music, AlterFest, Slot Art Festiwal, czy Off Camera
