Dry conditions and Santa Ana winds stirred several wildfires in southern California on Thursday, December 7, mostly blazing north of Los Angeles. Firefighters quickly brought a blaze near Malibu under control, but other fires were spreading.
The 96,000-acre Thomas fire, the largest, reached the Pacific Ocean Wednesday night. The Creek and Rye fires have burned nearly 20,000 acres. Thousands of homes have been evacuated.
