Hallways on Board Royal Caribbean Cruise Sprayed Down After Gastro Outbreak

Crew members were filmed spraying down hallways onboard an international cruise ship on December 4 after almost 200 passengers were afflicted with gastrointestinal illness.

Royal Caribbean International’s Ovation of the Seas, one of the world’s largest cruise ships, docked at Hobart with 5,800 people on Monday after spending 14 days at sea, ABC reported. The vessel was greeted in Hobart by Tasmanian ambulances. Two passengers, out of 195 reported cases, were transferred to hospital for treatment.

In a statement to media, Royal Caribbean International confirmed that on-board medical personnel were providing treatment and they were were undertaking “intensive sanitary procedures” to minimise further outbreak.
