Irish member of the European Parliament Luke “Ming” Flanagan shared a video showing him being forcefully removed from an invite-only event by the European Defence Agency (EDA) in Brussels on November 23.
Flanagan wrote that he did not have an invitation to the annual conference but decided to try to attend after it was announced that Ireland had joined the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) on security and defence.
Last week, 23 EU member states signed up to PESCO, a defence pact that moves the EU closer to having its own military capabilities, while Ireland held out over concerns that the agreement could threaten its neutrality.
According to the EDA website, registration for the event closed on November 10. It is not clear if Flanagan attempted to register to attend the conference.
