Rogue elephant tramples over cow

A rogue elephant went on a rampage chasing cows, which were peacefully grazing in a field.

As the villagers watched anxiously the elephant ran into the field and went after the cows.

A few bovines managed to outrun and dodge the pursuing behemoth. But one of them, a little slow, was trampled over by the elephant.
The villagers then raised a din to chase the elephant away.

The injured cow was shifted to a veterinary clinic for treatment.

The incident occurred at a village near Hosur in South India on November 17.

The elephant had earlier attacked the village and injured several men, two of whom had to be hospitalised.

The growing human-animal conflict in India takes an average toll of 400 people and 100 elephants every year.

Due to their shrinking habitats, elephants are being increasingly spotted in places like Hosur, where there was no record of the species a decade ago.
