First set upon the airwaves by George Fitzgerald last night, Tom Demac’s edit of “Guts” is mean, menacing and all kinds of unsettling. Gazelle Twin’s original – off The Quietus’ album of 2014, fact fans – is torn asunder. Her vocals devolve into snatches and snarls, while a curdled acid lines snakes through the original rhythm, dissolving the, ahem, guts of the track to reveal a low rumbling tone that permeates the entire second half.
Hypercolour are letting this one loose on Feb 7th. Don’t sleep (ever again).
