People climbed to the fifth floor of a severely damaged apartment building in Sarpol-e Zahab, Iran, on November 15 – three days after an earthquake struck the area – to see what could be salvaged.

A man throws a mattress down from the fifth floor of the building. Tents are set up in front of the building complex, and people in military uniforms walk nearby.

President Hassan Rouhani visited the town on November 14, and promised to investigate the recent construction of buildings affiliated with state-run programs, which collapsed in the earthquake. Credit: Facebook/Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Radio Farda via Storyful
