New Zealand Army Helps Save Stranded Orca

Soldiers from the New Zealand Army helped rescued an orca stranded on a beach near Blenheim on Monday, November 13.

The juvenile whale was spotted on Marfells Beach on Sunday. Soldiers, along with rescuers from charity Project jonah and the Department of Conservation, staged a successful attempt to refloat the cetacean at high tide on Monday. The NZ Herald reported the whale was able to swim away after it was moved to deeper water using a trench and pontoons. Credit: New Zealand Army via Storyful
