Police released dashcam and bodycam footage on November 9 from an incident in which a suspect was shot dead in Pueblo, Colorado, while attempting to flee in a car from police officers in February.

Officers responded shortly after midnight on February 5 to a call from a resident who had reported seeing her car, which she had earlier reported as stolen, with two men inside it near Acero Avenue. A police vehicle pulled up behind the suspects’ car, prompting the suspects to attempt to drive off as a second police vehicle arrived on the scene. The suspects’ car swerved to avoid the second police vehicle and drove into a parked semi-trailer.

After freeing the car from under the trailer and crashing into the police vehicle behind them, the suspects attempted to flee a second time, prompting an officer to shoot into the driver-side window as the car passed by.

A second officer also shot at the car, but did not hit anybody.

The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Andrew Byrd.

The Pueblo County District Attorney ruled on August 14 that the shooting was justified under the law. Credit: YouTube/Pueblo Police Department
