Exclusive Video Shows End of Texas Church Shooter Pursuit

Johnnie Langendorff was filming as he and his fellow local resident Stephen Willeford chased down a man who had just shot and killed 26 people at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, on Sunday, November 5.

They said they called police as they drove. This footage shows the scene just after the pursuit ended, as law enforcement showed up. Police officers are seen with their weapons drawn towards the attacker’s vehicle. A small surveillance drone is seen hovering overhead.

A longer segment of video shows the scene as Langendorff and Willeford arrive at the scene, having called police, and police arrive around the same time to find the suspects’s car has driven off the side of the road. Police shout to Langendorff and Willeford to get back and they film from a distance.

Police then approach the two to confirm their identities and Willeford, barefoot and visibly shaken, recounts having shot the suspect at the beginning of the chase back in Sutherland Springs and indicates that that is likely why his car went off the road after they chased him. Willeford also describes how Langendorff, whom he did not know, let him jump in his truck to chase the suspect.

The police tell the two to remain in place while they check the suspect’s car to see if he is still armed or alive. Credit: Johnnie Langendorff via Storyful
