Located on the southern side of the Han River (between Banpo and Hannam bridges) Banpo Hangang Park offers a welcome break from Seoul’s busy urban grind. One of the most popular among the many parks that surround the Han River, it was recently reimagined to provide more useable space. Now replete with grand lawns, walking trails and bicycle paths, the park is a great spot for a casual date or get together with friends. Most visit the park to see the Banpo Bridge Moonlight Rainbow Fountain which is the longest fountain bridge in the world. You may ask, what the heck is a fountain bridge? Yeah, we were stumped too. Well, actually falling water from the bridge is illuminated at night by LED lights as it falls to the river. Do we know why? Nope. But it doesn't matter because it’s very nice to look at.Another popular place to visit in area is the Sebit Dungdungseom which are three artificial floating islands. Apparently, the largest artificial floating islands in the world (who keeps track of this stuff?) they host a major convention hall, performing arts center and aquatic center. With a few places to eat and play, Sebit Dungdungseom is a popular night-time destination as the buildings on the island are illuminated. Time to play in the shadows.
