A crowd of protesters gathered outside of Piața Constituției (Constitution Square) in Bucharest, Romania, on November 5, holding signs against removing anti-corruption measures in government.
“We don’t want to be a nation of thieves” was the slogan of the night as thousands of protesters rallied against a bill proposed by the ruling Social Democrat Party that would prevent the president from appointing the country’s top prosecutors. It would also bring the Judicial Inspectorate, which investigates local magistrates’ misconduct, under the Justice Minster’s control.
Participants included former Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, who said, “we can’t play with Romania’s future.” Credit: Instagram/02nick.klaus03 via Storyful
