The first significant snow of the season was on the ground in Yellowstone National Park on Friday, October 3, and more snow and winter weather was expected through the weekend. A winter storm warning was in effect for the region.

Many roads were closed in Yellowstone on Friday because of the snow, a news report said. Many of the same roads were due to close on Monday for the winter. A total of two feet of snow could fall in the area through Sunday.
