The Mayor of New York Bill de Blasio and the Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo said the vehicle ramming incident in Lower Manhattan was an “act of terror” during a press conference on Tuesday, October 31.

The Commissioner of the New York Police Department, James O’Neill, also speaking at the press conference, said a police officer on the scene intervened moments after the attack began, helping to save people’s lives.

De Blasio said eight people were killed and at least 12 more were injured.
