NS empty hoppers

2008-07-21 2

NS empty hoppers roaring west. The lashup is C40-8W/C40-8W/C40-9W/SD40-2. The SD40-2 is #6080, which I have seen many times. The guy running down the tracks is my buddy Chris, trying to get pictures of the train before it gets there. With the way he was running on the railroad ties, I'm surprised that the engineer on the train didn't contact the NS Police Department for suspicious activity!

Recorded 7.15.2008

*To extend the story, the reason Chris was running was that I was on the phone with him and saw the train coming. We both knew that it was coming, we just weren't sure when. He found an opening down the track that showed the ex-SAL Portsmouth Subdivision, now owned by CSXT, which goes under this line. He took some shots of Q130, one of two intermodal trains on that line. Of course, I didn't go with him, which resulted in me not getting my first shot of a train on the CSXT Porsmouth Subdivision. I could hear it, but I couldn't see it. It's a shame, too, because this train just rescheduled to come through at 3:00 to 4:00 in the morning! *
