An Alberta clipper brought heavy snow and strong winds to areas of northern Minnesota on October 26 and 27.
This footage shows Big Bear Lodge and Cabins in Grand Marais around 8am on October 27, blanketed by what was said to be 4.5 inches of snow.
The National Weather Service (NWS) that morning had issued a winter weather advisory for areas of northeast Minnesota, including Grand Marais, urging drivers to be cautious.
At noon, the service’s Duluth office issued snowfall reports for numerous towns, which said Grand Marais had received 5.8 inches of snow. The top recorded snowfall was in the town of Finland, about halfway between Duluth and Grand Marais, where 8.8 inches of snow fell.
The snow was expected to get lighter during the afternoon as the storm moved east toward Wisconsin. Credit: Facebook/Big Bear Lodge & Cabins via Storyful
