Married life started badly for these two newlyweds when they were riding away on a moped - after police pulled them over for not wearing helmets.

The happy couple had just left the ceremony in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, and were even seen kissing as they cruised down the road.

But traffic cops spotted that the husband and wife were both without helmets and called them over at a checkpoint.

The woman, who has not been identified, quickly grabbed the orange helmet and briefly went to place it on her husband's head, then over her veil and back onto her husband.

Officers gave them a ticking off on the side of the road before they were allowed to go on their way and enjoy their honeymoon.

Food delivery driver Wuttikrai Somboonwong, 28, who filmed the clip video, said: '' ‘’I saw them this morning while I was working. It’s strange to see a bride on a moped so I was recording them.

‘’They were kissing while they were riding the moped, they looked so happy.

'The woman had no helmet and the man also did not have a helmet. I stopped to watch what happened and the officers told them off, and had a joke with them. They were there for about five minutes.''

Riding a motorcycle without a helmet is illegal in Thailand but the laws are loosely enforced, meaning many people flout the rules.
