THE RED PLANET — New research using data gathered from NASA's MAVEN mission to Mars suggests the planet's atmosphere maybe getting destroyed by thinned via solar wind.
Mars, like most planets, has a magnetotail. This is the side of a planet not facing the sun.
NASA now suspects that Mar's is different, in that it's magnetotail is twisted by solar winds from the sun.
The space agency suspects this may have contributed to the thinning of the red planet's atmosphere.
