A teenager has been arrested after several people were wounded by an attacker wielding an axe in Flums, a small town in north-eastern Switzerland.
Bruno Metzger, a spokesman for the regional police in St Gallen said the incident had no connection to terrorism: “we assume victims were attacked randomly and without terrorist intent”, he commented.
Suspect shot
The suspect, a 17-year old, Latvian national living locally, was injured by firearms officers in the course of his arrest.
It’s believed he attacked people in the town square, fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle. When that car was involved in an accident, he proceeded on foot to a petrol station, where he made a further attack, before he was tackled by police.
