Story: An old parody of the Pirates of the Caribbean films that we made back in 2007, parodying scenes from films 1-3 (this video was made long before On Stranger Tides was even confirmed). This video takes two key characters from the pirates franchise, Barbossa and Jack Sparrow, and places them in a modern setting. What seems like a regular day in this rural household soon turns chaotic when these 2 pirates (douche-bags) come in and start causing trouble. This is one of our oldest videos and we didn't really have much knowledge in film making back then so there are a number of flaws in this video. I've recently touched it up to make as good as I can but unfortunately some errors cannot be fixed. Despite it's problems I am still happy with how it came out and find it rather entertaining, I'd recommend it for long time Pirates fans.
Behind the scenes: This video was actually meant to be part of a much bigger series of pirates parodies but that project unfortunately went under. Originally filmed and edited in 2007, this film has been through a few re-edits. I did one in 2008, although that one mostly just added sound effects. As my editing skills improved I went back to this piece again in 2011, this time even re-shooting a number of scenes as much of the old footage contained awful continuity errors and some of it became corrupt so the ending had to be completely re-shot. Originally John was the one who kicked out Evan Sparrow but he wasn't available for the 2011 re-shoot so Ethan was used instead. So comes the year 2017, I return to this video once again. This new re-edit is a mixture of both 2007 and 2011 footage. My aim with this new version was to make it as presentable as possible for a class presentation I was doing. Out of all of the 4 cuts I am definitely most satisfied with the new 2017 version and at the moment I don't think I'll need to go back to this video again any time soon.
